Peter 3: 8-12 (NRSV)

Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called - that you might inherit a blessing. For

"Those who desire life and desire to see good days,
let them keep their tongues from evil
and their lips from speaking deceit;
let them turn away from evil and do good;
let them seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

What a wonderful passage to read and ponder. I am sorry that I have not availed myself to this and other messages earlier. I love the entire blog and the fabulous messages. How inspirational! I pray that I will have the time and inclination to continue perusing. Please keep up the good work. Oh yea--regarding the passage--"Manus lavat manum"-Plato (I think) Translated-One hand washes the other. This reminds me of the day when my daughter was about 5. She and her friend were playing at our house. Her friend was being unkind. Jessica came to me and stated, "Mom, Jackie needs to go to Sunday School". It also brings to mind the time period when I was deciding to allow my oldest son to take communion before his Confirmation. I attended our Pastor's communion program and then I still had "Lutheran inhibitions" about allowing him to take communion. I spoke to our Assistant Pastor and his words remain with me, "Isn't is all about faith? A child's faith is the purest form of all." I agree and I allowed my son to take Communion before his Confirmation. Susan Duffy
